She is the great-granddaughter of female filmmaking pioneer, Alice Guy Blaché, who is credited as being the first woman filmmaker in both France and the USA. Serena’s great-grandmother began her directing/producing career in 1896 and has often been recognized for having created the first ever fiction film, by being the first to use the medium to tell a visual story. <br /><br />Serena has perpetuated her family’s love of storytelling through her own writing for screen and stage. She has written several short screenplays: First Date, Metronome, Tom’s Day, Vantage Point, Forever, Love Letters, Zoom Out, The Secret Agent, Twins, and Jelly as well as a feature length script, Lost and Found, for the completion of her Masters degree in Mass Communication. <br /><br />Serena also holds a B.F.A. in graphic design and illustration from Tyler School of Art at Temple University.
